Rajaram was a clerical officer in a State Government Department, had a wife named Shamala and a daughter named Sumana. Sumana was studying in London. Six months ago,when Rajaram suspected that Shamala was having an affair with a young man, he questioned his wife about it. After 26 years of marriage with you, you still doubt me, Aren’t you ashamed?  Shamala taunted her husband and left her home in anger. Suspecting that Shamala had gone to village with the intention of making it easier to hook up with her lover, Rajaram planned to secretly observe her activities. Then his attention went to an advertisement published in the newspaper of that time. A private detective agency said in the Ad that it specialized in  investigating marital relationship. Rajaram immediately called the phone number of that organization.

 A man named Sarath answered the call and said he was the owner of the company. Rajaram introduced himself to Sarath and  invited Sarath to his house to talk to him as what he was talking about was confidential. The next day Sarath arrived with his wife and business partner Shabnam. Seeing Rajaram’s bungalow, his many luxury, they were shocked and happy that they were getting a big family as a customer. Rajaram tells them that he is suspicious of his wife Shamala and questioned if they can keep an eye on her activities. Sarath said that this kind of work is our speciality, we can follow madam where ever she goes, listen to her mobile phone conversion and steal her e-mails. The most advanced equipment made in Israel is the video recorder which records your wife’s activities and CDA reports of her telephone call reports will be given once a week. When asked how much money is spent for that work, it can be approximately five to ten lakh per month, it depends on your wife’s activities, said Sarath. Rajaram agreed to the money and also gave 2 lakh in advance.

 Sarath, who met Rajaram after a week, said that your wife has repeatedly called two numbers, one of which is abroad. He gave Shamala’s call report saying that he did not know the details of both the numbers. Rajaram identified the numbers in this as his own and their daughter’s. And asked Sharath was there any other information? He said no. Then the cunning Sarath started tapping Rajaram’s phone. He heard that he was transacting money with several persons connection with his office work and now Sharath started recording Rajaram’s calls. In one conversation, Rajaram offered ten crores of rupees to someone on one deal. Hearing the demand for bribe, Sarath focused his investigation on  them. Already known that he is a corrupt officer and has made property more than 100 crore, he made a plan to extort money from Rajaram.

 The very next day, Shabnam went to Rajaram’s house. In our investigation it has been proved that your wife is not having affair with anyone. But you are known to be involved in bad things.we have recorded the conversation where you have demanded a bribe of ten crore rupees to do the work of your department. She made him to listen the recorded conversation in her mobile. Rajaram was shocked. We will release this clip to the media and expose your true nature, we will be satisfied if you give us one crore rupees in cash within two days, she threatened. After two days, Rajaram told her that he would not give 1 crore, instead he would give 25 lakh and told her to meet in five star hotel. When the couple went there, Rajaram gave them money the said amount. However, even after receiving the money, Sarath did not rest. He gave the information about Rajaram’s demand of 10 crore to a journalist he knew. The journalist published a report against Rajaram in his tabloid. Sarath showed the article to Rajaram  and said that if he does not pay more, such reports will come out every week. Rajaram, who already was scared, agreed to pay Rs.50 lakh. After agreeing to pay, he went to another hotel the next day. During the visit, Rajaram, who was wearing a high definition camera in his coat  pocket, recorded the entire conversation between him and Sharath. Then he handed him a briefcase and told him that there is money in it. Sharath returned to his house and was shocked to see the empty briefcase. Boiliing with anger Sharath immediately called Rajaram and shouted on him, saying “if you don’t pay me, I will exterminate you” and cut the call. Rajaram also recorded this conversation.

 Sharath was furious that Rajaram had cheated him, went to the state intelligence office and filled complaint against Rajaram that he had acquired huge wealth. He also attached the audio clips he had recorded. Officials conducted a preliminary investigation into the complaint. As soon as Rajaram came to know about this, he called Sharath and apolozied for cheating him. They called him to meet him saying that he would pay the balance immediately.  In this visit he instructed, Sharath to withdraw the complaint given to the intelligence squad. Ten crore Rupees, Sharath said that he will withdraw the complaint only if he gives it and asked him to give the money to Shabnam’s brother who was in another town. Rajaram agreed and secretly video recorded this conversion as well. Meanwhile, the government suspended Rajaram on the instructions of the intelligence agency. Angered this Rajaram did not give money to Shabnam’s brother. Instead he went to the police department anti-riot squad office. The squad was special unit that investigate extortion gangs who call rich people, builders etc.. Rajaram gave one audio and two videos  that he recorded to that authorities and complained that Sharath and Shabnam was blackmailing him. Call them to a place where they will, pay the requested money. We will catch them, official said.

 Rajaram called Sharath and told him he would immediately pay one crore rupees if he withdraws compliant against him. Sharath, Shabnam agreed and came to the place indicated by him. As soon as Rajaram gave briefcase containing money, Sharath and Shabnam started counting the money. Then the police who were hiding there arrested them. Later Sharath’s spy office was raided and found that both of them blackmailed several people in the same way. A case was registered against them under the Rowdy Control Act and both were sent to jail. The trial of this case took seven years. The detective couple spent the entire period in jail. After trail, the court acquitted them as there was no sufficient evidence against them. Meanwhile Rajaram was released from suspension and retired, due to his closeness to the authorities even after his retirement he was given the position of Government Adviser.⁽¹⁾

As we all know that Private Detective have more demand for the service they offer. You can’t even find whether they are real agency or fraud. When a case is given to them, they do their work properly until they get all the details about us and after getting the information, they show their real face. If they are real agency then they will investigate your case and will help you to solve your case completely or else they will blackmail you and they take money and cheat you. So before hiring any agency its important to search in good websites and then meet the person directly. Pay close attention to  the environment and people. Don’t call them and give number and case details until you get information on them. Its important to go through a profile of those who are on team and verify their qualifications.
