A Daughter’s Unthinkable Act

One night at 11 pm, the city police control room received a call telling an Innova car is parked on the outer ring road of which four doors of the car have closed. There is no one in the car. The stranger hung up the phone saying that there was blood coming out from the back left door. The control room ordered a nearby patrol vehicle to rush to the spot. When the police went to the deserted spot, a white colour Innova car was parked on the side of the road with blood pouring from its back seat on the road. Looking inside the car in the torchlight, a middle-aged women was lying on the back seat with her neck slit and blood flowing from there. On seeing the jewels on her body, the police thought that it was not a murder for property, and when the vehicle was searched, no bag, mobile phone or any weapon was found.

When the registration number of the Innova car was checked through the Vahan app, it was registered in the name of Aruna and her address was found. As she was a resident of the same town, this information was immediately given to the control room and a police team rushed to that address in the outskirts of the city. It was a big house and the house was locked. Aruna, who was the owner of the car, was around 45 years old, when inquired from the neighbors, they told, she was quite rich by doing real estate business in the city, lately she has taken an interest in politics and it is learned that she is ambitious to become a corporator from her ward and came to know that a driver named Ramu was driving a vehicle. And Aruna has a son and daughter.

 Next morning, Aruna's body was sent for post-mortem examination. Aruna died of severe bleeding due to 16 stab wounds on her body and her neck was cut. It was reported that when the driver was found, he said: 'Last night I went to a wedding ceremony with madam and her two children. We left for home from the function at 10.30 PM, after moving a short distance on the ring road, some people on three motorcycles followed our vehicle and instructed me to stop the vehicle but I speed off without stopping, I had to move the vehicle slowly as the road ahead was dug up. Then those three who overtook stopped their bikes in front of my vehicle, I stopped the vehicle. Immediately 5 people got down from the bikes and surrounded the car, everyone had weapons in their hands, he told me to open the car door,  I did not open. They hit the window with a weapon saying they will kill me if I don't open the door. Scared, I opened the door, got down and ran away. I stopped a bike which I saw on the road and reached my house in the same bike. I don't know what happened to the people in the car." Why did you not give this information to the police or anyone else? When questioned, he gave the reason that he was shocked.

Aruna's elder daughter Rekha's cell phone number was obtained from Ramu and she was contacted. She told that she came to her friend's house with her brother. 20-year-old Rekha repeated what the driver Ramu had said and said that when 5 assailants attacked their vehicle, she got scared and ran away with her brother in fear and caught another vehicle coming on the opposite road and reached her girlfriend's house. Rekha said that she tried to contact her mother from her friend's house but her phone was switched off. Why was the incident not reported to the police? When asked, she replied that they both very scared. When Rekha was told about the murder of her mother, she started crying profusely. After calming down, Rekha said: “My mother married Ashok about 22 years ago. Two children were born to them. After 15 years of  marriage my parents got divorced in court. Then we all came and joined our grandfather's house. My mother was the only daughter of our grandfather. Grandfather was rich doing real estate business, my mother used to help my grandfather in his business. After some time she herself started handling all the business of her grandfather. Four years ago both my grandfather and grandmother passed away one after the other. Thus mother became the sole heir to all the property of grandfather. Recently, mother was campaigning to stand for the 'Corporation' elections. She may have been killed for the same reason.'

          The investigator started collecting information to know whether Aruna was killed due to political enmity, whether she was killed for property or for some other reason. Then it came out that Aruna had joined a gym near her house. Aruna was attracted to Kishore, who was her personal trainer, married and he had three children, and started a relationship with him. She advised him to leave his wife and he did as Aruna said, moved to another house with Aruna  and started living there with her and her two children. After about six months Kishore became attracted to Aruna's daughter Rekha. She too was attracted to him. Over time, an immoral relationship developed between them. Both of them were careful not to let Aruna know about this relationship.

 

         One day  they both  Rekha and Kishore planned to finish off Aruna, her entire property will be theirs. Rekha said that by giving a share to her brother, both of them can live happily. Kishore immediately agreed. When they both thought of how to kill Aruna, Kishore remembered his friend Rafiq, who was a rowdy sheeter who agreed to kill Aruna and asked for Rs 10 lakh. Without knowing to her mother Aruna, Rekha stole Rs 3 lakh and gave it to Rafiq as an advance. Rekha instructed Rafiq where and how to kill his mother. As per the plan, Rafiq along with his companions was waiting for Aruna's car on the ring road. Even after the reception, the driver told that if he took the circular road, he would be able to reach home sooner. As soon as the vehicle reached that road, she came on her mobile giving the live location to Rafiq. He had already decided the place to attack. On seeing the vehicle, Rafiq and four others followed the vehicle and blocked it. Then Rekha, Subhash and the driver ran away. Those three people did not see Aruna's murder.

    Later, when Rafiq was arrested, Arun's purse and mobile phone were found with him. Apart from this, Rs 2 lakh cash received as supari was found. On his statement, the rest of the accused were arrested and the weapons used in the murder were seized from them. A case of conspiracy, murder and robbery was registered against 7 people including Rekha and Kishore. All face life imprisonment if convicted.⁽¹⁾ 

 

    When a person is behind you just for their gain and bad intentions, incidents like above takes place. As mentioned in the above case, Rekha was in relationship with Kishore, who was in relationship with Rekha’s mother Aruna. So Rekha don’t want to make aware of her relationship to her mother. Rekha wants to be happy with Kishore, so she thought until her mother Aruna is alive she cant lead independent and open life with Kishore. Rekha planned to eliminate her mother from her life. Rekha was not at all worried about her mother instead she is just worried about her life and her happiness. Rekha a  twenty year old girl, who is not enough matured to think of her future took a wrong decision in her life. Rekha knows that her mother is owner for huge property and Rekha was physically attracted to Kishore. She wants to lead a happy life with Kishore which is not possible when her mother Aruna is alive. If she kill her mother she will be the owner of the property and together she can live happily with Kishore. Rekha was immature girl, she thought she will not be caught after her mother’s murder, but fortunately police caught them. For her it is just a murder but for police it is a routine job.
