Reel v/s Real
22-year-old Archana graduated in Computer Applications, worked in a call center. She loved her work. After working for about two years, she got married to a man named Rakesh. Being the only son of his parents, Rakesh was running his own shop. Rakesh's father Shyamsunder, a retired school teacher, owned a five acre plot of land in their village. Mother Veena took care of the housework. Everyone was together. Rakesh was staying in a room on the first floor of the house. His parents in a room on the ground floor. There was a hall, kitchen and puja room on the ground floor. At the back of the house there was a large space with a small garden. Steps were made to go to the terrace of the house. As soon as Archana reached her husband's house, her mother-in-law, father-in-law and husband warned her not to work anywhere outside, because no girl child is sent to work in their family. They imposed a strict restriction that she should stay at home and do the household chores. This made Archana very angry and bored. Archana turned to social media to vent her frustration. She dances to movie songs and records them, uploading their reels on Facebook and Instagram.
Archana, who was beautiful to look at and danced well, got thousands of fans on social media. Among such fans, one named Vikram not only clicked like on all her reels, but also started sending her messages. Archana noticed the profile of Vikram who was her biggest fan. Vikram, who looked like a movie hero, said that he belonged to a middle-class family and had done small roles in some TV serials. He claimed that he is interested in travelling around the country and abroad. Archana got attracted to him and starts chatting with him. Vikram wooed Archana by saying that you are beautiful, your figure is not less than any heroine, and gradually started sex chat with her. Both of them started doing video chats naked. One day Vikram called Archana and asked to meet him. By Saying something in home, Archana went to the hotel as Vikram mentioned. They both had consensual sex in the same hotel. Vikram asks her to marry him when Archana tells him that you satisfy me more than my husband. When she readily agrees, Vikram takes her home to his parents and introduced her as his future wife. Over time, Archana was having sex with Vikram without knowing her husband.
One day when Archana was taking a bath, Rakesh saw her phone ringing and the call stopped as soon as he picked it up. When Rakesh noticed who had called, he found Vikram and Archana's sex chats. Horrified, Rakesh assaulted his wife as soon as she got out of the bath. He told her to leave the house immediately and beat her mercilessly. He kept her cell phone with him. Archana was like a fish out of water without a cell phone for a week after she was barred from leaving the house. She asked her husband to forgive her saying that she would never do a bad thing again. A heartbroken Rakesh forgives her. Later, when she called him and begged for his phone, Rakesh gave her his old mobile phone which can used only for call and text. Meanwhile Archana’s father-in-law sold land for 10 lakhs, Archana got to know that the cash was kept at home. She contacted Vikram and told him to kill her mother-in-law and father-in-law and steal their 10 lakh and run away and let us both get married and be happy. Vikram also liked Archana’s idea. However they both secretly met at a place and hatched a murder plan. One night at 8 o'clock Vikram went to Archana's house with one of his friend, Vikram and his friend completely covered their face. They stopped their vehicle on the road leaning to the compound behind Archana's house and entered the compound. Archana did not put the lock on the back door of the house as planned. Both of them went straight to the terrace through the stairs and hid there. At 10 pm, Archana's mother and father-in-law went to their room. Rakesh fell asleep at 11 pm.
After making sure that everyone was asleep, Archana called Vikram's mobile after midnight and said, "You can do your work now." Vikram and his friend came down from the terrace at 2 am and reached ShyamSundar's room on the ground floor. As usual he did not lock his room. The assailants entered the room and suffocated the elderly couple by putting a pillow over their noses. Then he searched the room and took Rs.10 lakh there. He grabbed the cash and all the jewelry and left through the back door. When Rakesh woke up early as usual in the morning and went downstairs to drink tea, he noticed that his parents had not yet come out of their room and entered the room. Seeing the room in disarray and his parents still sleeping on the couch, he panicked and went to them. Immediately after seeing them dead, he called the police control room. Immediately the police personnel arrived and registered a case of robbery and murder and started investigation. There were no fingerprints in the house. However, it was learned that the thieves left through the back door of the house. The police checked whether there was any CCTV on the road behind the house and could find any traces on it.
It was recorded on the area’s CCTV that two persons wearing helmet came on a bike and stopped the bike near the compound of Rakesh's house and took a bag from there at 3:20 in the morning. However, the number plate of that vehicle was covered with mud so it was not possible to know which vehicle it was. A number of cell phone tower dumps in the area were observed. It was learned that there was a conversation of about 5 seconds between the 2 phones at approximately 2 am. When the IMEI numbers of those phones were checked, one of them was in the name of Rakesh. When questioned he said that he had given it to his wife Archana. Police started interrogated Archana, She confessed everything. Vikram gave her a sim which she put in her cell phone for a chat between them. Later Vikram was arrested and his friend was also arrested. All the jewellery stolen from the house was recovered, but Vikram had spent Rs 2 lakh out of 10 lakh cash. All were arrested and imprisoned. If the conversation between Vikram and Archana had not taken place that night, this would have gone undetected. Criminals were caught by one conversation, no matter how perversely planned. Every Criminal leaves trace in crime scene.(1)
In today’s world everyone wants to work, earn their own money and spend time. No women wants to sit at home idle, depend upon husband for financial support and do household chores. Woman wants to work equally to men. But when a woman is interested in work, in that situation if their parents or in laws restricts her, she will divert her mind in other things. Today there are many other options where woman search to earn money or spend time. There are en number of social media where they can become famous by doing things like dancing, singing, doing reels, tik-tok and many. Social media is new way of Committing crimes, even unknown tricks can be learnt using social media. Social media influence lot on human thinking. In Social Media we get many friends easily where we can chat and speak with them without exposing their real identity. Due to which whoever can fall prey. There are some particular groups where their main target is girls and woman. They continuously call and text. They easily convince girls/women into their trap. As seen in the above case Vikram and Archana were strangers to each other. They have become friends through a social media. Even she was not sure whether the parents of Vikram she met was his real parents or fake. Vikram could have simply introduced unreal parents just to impress and use Archana. This is the real face of social media. Woman/girl should not believe anyone blindly. 70% of Social media is a magical dark world were you can see only crimes. Here, only Archana can’t hold the responsibility for the whole incident, her in-laws and husband also have some role in it by not sending her or not letting her to do her wishful job. If she was also a working woman she could have busy in her job deeds and family. Today there is no meaning for the word sacrifice for family. All are concentrated on their will and wishes. If Archana could have sacrificed her job and was not diverted her mind in Social media, her life would have been beautiful as there was no shortage of anything to her. She could have saved 2 lives from death and remaining from life imprisonment. Now, including her, everyone’s life scattered.
